Jan Husby is a Cand. Scient. in Zoology/Eco-physiology from the University of Trondheim. He is also an agronomist. He is working as a Senior Adviser at GenØk and has been working with biosafety for 17 years, including 14 years for the Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management, under the Ministry of Environment. He has participated in numerous working groups and committees on biosafety, including under the Nordic Council, the Council of Europe, the European Standardisation Organisation, the European Science Foundation, as well as under the EU’s directives and the OECD. He has also been a member of the Norwegian Biotechnology Advisory Board and participated in all meetings negotiating the Cartagena Protocol as one of the Norwegian delegates.
