Evaluation of the Biosafety Course 2004: “Very high standard and quality”
13.10.2004
The Norwegian Agency of Development Cooperation (Norad), who funds Genøk’s biosafety capacity building programme, commissioned a review of the course this year.
An external evaluation committee was established in order to evaluate the quality of the course: “Holistic Foundation for Assessment and Regulation of Genetic Engineering and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)”, assess the relevance of the course with respect to the needs and demands of Governments and NGOs in Developing Countries, and assess the selection process of participants to the course.
Extracts from the report:
“The course has very high standard and quality, and the holistic approach, covering both the natural and social science aspects of GMOs, is unique, very much appreciated by the participants and highly needed by many developing countries. “
“It is recommended that the biosafety capacity building course continue to be undertaken annually. In view of the high demand for the course among developing countries, consideration should be given to replicating and staging the course at the regional level.”
