GenØk in the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food Safety (VKM) 2007-2010

Anne I. Myhr and Kaare M. Nielsen were appointed to the Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms in the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food Safety.

The Ministry of Health and Care Services both appoint and finance the Committee for Food Safety.

VKM has a structure very similar to EFSA, with one main committee and nine panels:

• Panel on biological hazards
• Panel on plant protection products and their residues
• Panel on genetically modified organisms
• Panel on food additives, flavourings, processing aids, materials in contact with food and cosmetics
• Panel on contaminants in the food chain (incl pollution and natural toxins)
• Panel on animal feed
• Panel on dietetic products, nutrition, new food and allergies
• Panel on animal health and welfare
• Panel on plant health
